Workshop

A recent guitar, pictured below as it was nearing completion . . .

The headstock is faced with a veneer.  It is decorative but also reinforces the scarf joint which joins the headstock and the neck shaft.  The one pictured below is book matched figured walnut.

Each rosette is unique and employs decorative motifs commonly used by Torres.  Here the first rings of the rosette have been inlayed awaiting a herringbone central ring.

The fan braces are not shaped to fit the arch of the top but rather pressed into a dished work board, called the solera in Spanish, to create the dome of the top.

Continuous kerfed linings are used on both the top and back to join the sides.
